{{:blueandgoldsnapper.jpg?200|}}Blue-and-gold snapper (Lutjanus viridis) occur in coastal waters, frequently around rocky and coral reefs. Occasionally they congregate in large schools .  They are generally bright yellow, with 5 black-edged bluish-white stripes on the sides. The belly is whitish with narrow gray lines, the fins are mainly yellow.  Eastern Pacific: Mexico to Ecuador. Most common at offshore islands including Malpelo, Galapagos, Las Tres Marías (Panama) and Revillagigedo islands.
